The Cool Block program is a groundbreaking community initiative designed to increase residents’ understanding of climate change while equipping them with practical tools for sustainable living, disaster preparedness, and community building. This unique program operates in two dynamic tracks:

    1. Become a Cool Block Leader – Receive training to lead a group of your neighbors through an inspiring journey of positive change.

    2. Join a Cool OC-Led Cohort – Connect with like-minded individuals in a guided experience facilitated by our team.

Participants explore eight engaging topics across three key areas: sustainable living, climate resilience, and fostering community connections. Our innovative platform features an educational video introducing the top and lists a menu of actionable steps with how-to instructions, to help participants make a real impact.

To get started, interested participants are encouraged to attend a brief informational session to fully understand the program's commitments. Those choosing to become Block Leaders will also complete an additional two-hour training session to develop the skills needed to successfully lead their group. The entire program typically involves six meetings spread over 2-3 months, making it manageable and impactful. We offer in-person and virtual options for easy participation.

To ensure success, Cool OC provides comprehensive training, ongoing support, and access to invaluable community resources. Together, we’re transforming neighborhoods into sustainable, resilient, and vibrant communities—one block at a time.
